The Rochester Diocese Board of Education (Mr John Constanti) - Member
Currently the Director of Education for the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education with aA background and qualifications pertaining to finance; supporting Church of England schools for the last thirty-four years. Initially deployed in the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education between 1984 and 1993, John joined the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education in 1993.
Key current responsibilities are:
- The strategic leadership for the planning and structural development of all Church of England schools and academies across the Diocese of Rochester.
- Advising, supporting and guiding all Church schools and academies on issues relating to property, finance and capital funding to ensure that Church schools and academies remain sustainable and meet the needs of their communities
- The planning and development of Church school organisation projects and initiatives including the introduction of academies, free schools, federations and collaborative partnerships across the Diocese and
- Liaising with schools over improvements and the maintenance of premises and advising on any potential funding streams.
Further expertise includes SORP and company accounting requirements and John reviews the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education annual financial statements.
Currently also serving as a MAT Trustee, MAT Member and a governor at two Church of England schools across both the primary and secondary phases.
Mrs Jennifer Faik - Member
An experienced retired Headteacher of 15 years and of 2 different Church schools. In addition to this being a principal and owner of a private nursery provided experience in setting up and running a successful business within the education sector. Strengths include building and leading an effective team with clear roles and responsibilities, within a strong, caring educational environment. Previous experience as a trustee includes membership of the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education.
Mrs Yvonne Poynter - Member
A retired teacher with over 40 years’ experience, over 40 years’ experience as a school governor in the roles of a staff and foundation governor. Governor through a number of Ofsted and SIAMs inspections; Good and Outstanding. Governor overseeing significant school improvement leading to the school being recognised as the most improved school in the country in 2010.
Mr John Sellers - Member
A dental surgeon in Medway since 1994 who has been involved in several different practices and business ventures. An energetic and respected member of the community, with integrity and a deserved reputation as a good communicator. The high value he places on good education stems from his father - an amazing and inspiring PE teacher. In 2014-15 John gained a C+G Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools to improve his ability to contribute within the classroom as a volunteer at The Pilgrim School when his personal and professional circumstances have permitted.
Mark Wilkes – Chair of Trustees/Member
A Border Force Officer with team leader experience. An extensive knowledge of safeguarding and security. Experience of working within and making recommendations for amendments to risk assessments in all Border Force control areas. A school governor with extensive experience as Chair of a Finance Committee. 7 years as Chair of Governors of the most improved school in the country and through Ofsted and SIAMs inspections that saw the school move from 'Good' to 'Outstanding; a proven track record in leading quality challenge for Headteachers and senior leaders.
